Biography: Alireza Mirassadollah
Born in 1973 in Iran Alireza Mirassadollah is a self made illustrator, painter, writer, poet and doll maker who has had numerous exhibitions in such countries as Iran, England and New Zealand. Although he has worked extensively with children inspiring them to pour out their thoughts and feelings Mirassadollah is not a child’s artist. This artist is not only involved in Miro’s form of unlearning adult artistic training but he is also deeply involved in unlearning all forms of social and cultural indoctrination all of which is portrayed in his works. His choice of medium, rich colors or lashing humor all convey his beliefs in the rejection of social conventions, freedom from any form of cultural restraint and elation of all feelings—a reality the titles to all his works attest to. Mirassadollah’s art is undoubtedly influenced by Abstract Expressionism and Colorist artists and yet he weds all these with his own brand of cynical humor. Few artists can win over adults and children like Mirassadollah does in all the mediums he works with. Alireza Mirassadollah is presently living and working in Tehran.
